Rag Quilting is sweeping through the quilting world.  And with good reason.  It's fun, fast & fabulous!  There is no batting, no binding, and often, no quilting.  When the quilt top is finished, the whole quilt is complete.  Results are satisfying for quilters of all skill levels.

Easy enough for beginners, this book includes twelve projects based on five different designs:  Simplicity, Allegiance, Cottage Row, Honeycomb and Flamingo Flurry, which is featured on the cover at left.  Measuring 47" x 75", this quilt of flying geese also has a matching pillow sham (26" x 33").

Using the raggy strip technique, seams are featured on the front of simple quilts instead of hidden inside.  They can fray & fluff, adding a delightful three-dimensional texture.  Raggy quilts are completed quickly because the front & back are stitched at the same time.  In addition, the same quilt pattern will appear on both the front & back.  The only difference is that the seams on the front will be fluffy while seams on the back will be smooth.

Use any cotton fabric to produce a fabulous rag quilt.  Mixing batiks, cotton prints, 30's reproductions, printed flannels & homespuns with yarn-dyed wovens results in softly frayed seams.  Designs include traditional quilt patterns as well as original designs for quilts & coordinating pillows in various sizes.

It's easy to personalize rag quilts.  Select a favorite color scheme; create a scrappy look with fabrics from your stash; collect theme fabrics such as sports, animals, juvenile, sewing, bugs, flowers, etc.; or trade fabrics with quilting friends.
